If you want to learn to speak Korean fluently then Yonsei KLI is probably on of the best school available. Yonsei KLI gets a lot of criticism for its dry teaching methods and boring classes. It also gets a lot of praise because it prepares students for different situations, whether it is working-level Korean, college-level Korean or conversational Korean. Note that very little focus is put on improving your conversation skills.

Finding Housing at Yonsei KLI

Yonsei KLI is about as expensive as most schools where you can learn Korean. Like with most schools, you need to find KLI will not sponsor your visa. In order to get a visa to stay in Korea, you will either need to prove that someone will be taking care of you in Korea, or that you have enough money to stay in Korea for an extended period of time.

You should know that KLI does not sponsor housing or books either, and that those are at your own charge. The good news is that there are several guest houses (called “hasuk jips”) in the neighborhood that offer cheap housing and meals. The rooms can be quite small and the food will be almost exclusively Korean. You may lack privacy in guest houses.
