Career Technical Training

Working under a generous grant provided by the US Department of Education, online training for marina, harbor, and port employees is now being made available for their career advancement. The online format of these classes will allow staff members to improve work skills from within their own communities, avoiding expensive travel and time lost from work. Called Career Training for Ports and Marinas, this project is supported by a partnership of four organizations representing harbors and marinas extending from Oregon along the west coast north to Alaska:

  • University of Alaska Southeast (UAS)
  • Pacific Coast Congress of Harbormasters and Port Managers (PCC)
  • Alaska Association of Harbormasters and Port Administrators (AAHPA)
  • Harbour Authority Association of British Columbia (HAABC)

Program Requirements - Taking one of these online classes takes a minimal level of technical ability and equipment. Students need to have fifteen to twenty hours of personal time over the span of three months to complete a course. Access to a computer with internet capability and headphones or speakers is required. Students need to have a personal e-mail address that isn't shared with any other person. The University of Alaska Southeast can help provide this requirement if necessary.
