Training for School Psychologists

School Psychologist are well trained and highly educated with expertise in working in public schools. School psychology typically requires a Ph.D., but may require a master’s level specific degree in some states. It requires a specific license to work as a school psychologist in every state. The National Association of School Psychologists shows the educational requirements in each state.

Along with coursework and a degree, school psychology requires supervised work experience. Typically, that includes a practicum or guided experience in a university along with a closely supervised internship of practice. It may also include limited supervision for a short period after licensure.
